At the Vascular Health Alliance, patients have access to a wide variety of endovascular treatments and are typically discharged from the hospital in one or two days. Our team has the expertise to perform more types of endovascular procedures than any other practice in the region.
Percutaneous Transluminal Angioplasty (PTA)
Commonly known as balloon angioplasty, this procedure dilates a narrow artery using an inflatable balloon-tipped catheter.
These stents are inserted into diseased or narrow arteries to slowly release anti-proliferation drugs, preventing future blockage. Used in conjunction with PTA, these stents offer a viable option for continual treatment as the drug is released.
Endovascular Stent Grafts
These specially designed tubes are primarily used for abdominal aortic aneurysm repair and are made of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), a synthetic polymer, supported by the metal mesh of the stent.
This treatment uses a clot-dissolving injection to break up blockage, most commonly connected with ischemic stroke.
This procedure removes plaque from the inner lining of the arteries using a laser, rotational or directional catheter. Balloon angioplasty or stents may follow if needed.
The Vascular Health Alliance is equipped to treat a full range of vascular patients, even those whose non-critical condition might not warrant a surgical procedure. Our specialists will prescribe a drug regimen, then closely monitor a patientís progress until he or she is ready for surgical treatment. Instead of choosing from a short list of procedures that may not be appropriate for a patientís specific condition at the time, our team acts with every patientís best interests in mind. Our complete offering of services, from cardiovascular risk reduction to our on-site diagnostic imaging, gives patients access to the exact level of care they require and ensures that future surgical procedures will be more targeted and effective.
When patients do require more traditional ďopenĒ surgery, our experienced team of surgeons, nurses, assistants, and staff uses the highest quality equipment and the very latest vascular procedures to treat a full spectrum of conditions including complex aneurysm repairs, artery reconstructions and bypass for peripheral vascular disease. Our physicians are backed by the resources, technology and facilities of Greenville Health System. Every patient at the Vascular Health Alliance benefits from this commitment from start to finish, with greater accessibility to a complete range of services and support from the Upstateís premier consortium of medical professionals.
