At the Greenville Health System (GHS) Multidisciplinary Breast Health Program, we strive to put our patients at the center of a comprehensive, compassionate, and convenient delivery system for all breast health needs.
The Breast Imaging Center offers state-of-the-art diagnostic services including digital mammography, breast MRI with biopsy capabilities, and other image-guided biopsy techniques. The center's four radiologists dedicate their clinical practices to breast imaging. Our Breast Health Center is adjacent to the imaging center and offers a full range of benign and malignant breast disease management by a team of surgeons dedicated to breast health. The proximity of radiologists and surgeons ensures close, team-oriented interactions focused on answering a woman's questions and addressing her breast health problems.
A major focus of our program is the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. The Multidisciplinary Breast Center (MDC) brings together physicians and services from many specialties including medical oncology, radiation oncology, surgery, radiology, pathology, fertility specialist, genetic counselors, and access to clinical trials and research. The goal of the MDC is to provide the most advanced breast cancer care and emotional support while eliminating the delays many cancer patients experience in the course of diagnosis to treatment.
The GHS Cancer Center serves as the nucleus of our program with specialized breast care centers located throughout the community. As with other types of cancer, it is vitally important for physicians to first understand the specific nature of breast cancer before tailoring a treatment plan to the patient. Within Greenville Health System (GHS), there is a strong emphasis on preoperative studies and interdisciplinary physician collaboration to help ensure that the patient’s care plan has been considered from a wide variety of expert angles before a breast cancer operation.
One of our specially trained and certified breast nurse navigators is available 24/7 to answer questions and provide support. We are committed to continuously evaluating outcomes and making the necessary adjustments to constantly improve the breast care we deliver to the women in our community.
